żródło ...

taken by Jogorman

Źródło

Zatoka lasu zstępuje
w rytmie górskich potoków...
Jeśli chcesz znaleźć źródło,
musisz iść do góry, pod prąd.
Przedzieraj się, szukaj, nie ustępuj,
wiesz, że ono musi tu gdzieś być —
Gdzie jesteś, źródło?... Gdzie jesteś, źródło?!
Cisza...
Strumieniu, leśny strumieniu,
odsłoń mi tajemnicę
swego początku!
(Cisza — dlaczego milczysz?
Jakże starannie ukryłeś tajemnicę twego początku.)
Pozwól mi wargi umoczyć
w źródlanej wodzie
odczuć świeżość,
ożywczą świeżość.

a bit late new year Resolution ...

A poem by one of my fave poets ks.Jan Twardowski.
The English translation is by Anna Mioduchowska and Myrna Garanis.

Resolution

I resolve to work on

casting off

the bull of rhetoric

the Vaseline of stylization

gallant pauses

slick syntax

lyrical garbage

in order to kneel in winter

and bring You in an unskilled hand

the lamb of snow

I oryginał:

Postanowienie

Postanawiam pracować nad tym
żeby się pozbyć
byka retoryki
wazeliny stylizacji
galanteryjnych pauz
wypucowanej składni
lirycznego śmietnika
żeby zimą przyklęknąć
i przynieść Ci niewykwalifikowaną rękę
baranka ze śniegu

this is just to say ... i love poetry ;-)

Two days ago I came across this film on U tube - and I want to share it as I immediately fell in love with it, not only because it features a very handsome M.McFayden ;-) but because it's amazing how they gave new life to this classical poem, so it can speak to us, here and now and even make us smile ... and it also proves how just a little ordinary thing may become unordinary if we just try to look at it from a different perspective, if we just dare to open up and try to see ordinary miracles ...
good luck with looking for such happy moments!

here's the poem itself:

This is just to say

I have eaten
the plums
that were in
the icebox

and which
you were probably
saving
for breakfast.

Forgive me
they were delicious
so sweet
and so cold.

/William Carlos Williams/
